The Fivefold Path *

In our time, when it often seems that the different religions are separated by unbridgeable opposition, the Fivefold Path has been given as an aid by which a worldwide connection and communication can be established without the need of founding yet another religion.

The guidelines of the Fivefold Path as they were proclaimed by Kalki Avatar (Shree) to help all mankind are to be found in the inner core of each religion and also the idea that man makes donations to God – as it is reflected in various sacrificial ceremonies. Accordingly, Fivefold Path mentions Yajnya in the first place, an inestimable tool in order to bring about a purification on material and energetic levels and thereby constituting the basis for a healing of human beings (physically, mentally, spiritually) and environment. By means of the Fivefold Path, everybody can make his contribution to his own welfare and also to harmony, peace and welfare throughout the world.

The Fivefold Path is based on the following five guidelines: *

1. Yagna
Purification of the atmosphere in the visible as well as in the invisible sphere by the aid of fire.
The shortest and nowadays basic form of Yajnya is Agnihotra

2. Daan
Sharing of material goods with other human beings in the attitude of humbleness. The giver regards the receiver with deep respect and gratitude, because the latter offers him the opportunity to fulfill a spiritual principle. If Daan is practised in the right way, it will make us inwardly free and independent of material things.

3. Tapa
Generic term for spiritual practice, disciplines and prayer, for every kind of turning towards supreme light, towards God. The more we are unattached to emotional and physical circumstances, the happier we shall feel and the easier our turning towards God will become. A person who thereby has ever experienced this attainable enjoyment of life can understand why some people call on the aid of a spiritual adviser to reach this goal. Contemplation into silence and meditation, prayer and recitation of mantras can be Tapa just as much as the breaking of firmly established habits or a temporary abstention from luxury and stimulants.

4. Karma
Karma, a term for the cosmic law of cause and effect. It includes that each thought, each emotion and each action has a proportionate reaction as a consequence and that we create our destiny by ourselves. Doing everything in a spirit of humbleness and with love for God and not be attached to the results can liberate from the negative effects of our actions.

5. Swadhyaya
Study of one's self: Who am I? Striving for the realization of the true, divine nature of man. The study of holy scriptures is already a search for the truth. Perception and deepest knowledge, however, are lying beyond words and can only be experienced. Tapa and Karma constitute the basics for supreme knowledge to be given.

To follow the principles of the Fivefold Path leads to abundant blessings and finally to the
aim of being human – from human to noble-minded human.
